အကပ် | a-kut

(1) ကပ်ပြီးကျန်ရစ်နေသည့် အကြွင်းအကျန် | kut pyi3 kjan2-yit nay2-dthi1 a-kjwin3 a-kjan2 - residue ([UK] rez.ɪ.dʒuː [US]ˈrez.ə.duː 🔊). The word ကပ် | kut implies that the residue 'sticks' (adhere) to the surface. For example, အိုးကပ် | o3 gut means the remnant of the food sticking to the cooking pot after scooping it out, forming a crust or a layer. Such a layer will be seen when cooking eggplant dish in cooking method known as ခရမ်းသီးအိုးကပ်ချက် | kha1-yan3-dthi3 o3-gut chet. [Also see အကျန် | a-kjan2.]

(2) အထက်လူကြီးကို ပြေးကပ်ခြင်း | a-htet lu2-ji3 go2 pyay3 kut jin3 - the act of approaching someone in authority to gain favor; someone in authority who can grant such a [US] favor [UK] favour.

(3) သင်္ဘော၊ လှေ စသည်တို့ ကမ်းကပ်ခြင်း | thin3-bau3 hlay2 sa1 dthi2-doh1 kun3 kut jin3 - သင်္ဘော | thin3-bau3 - a ship (ˈship 🔊), a vessel or လှေ | hlay2 - a boat (boʊt 🔊) to approach docking area.

အကပ်ခံ | a-kut khan2

(1) ဆက်ကပ်သည့် ဆွမ်းကိုလက်ခံသည် | hset-kut dthi1 hsoon3 go2 let-khan2 dthi2 - monk to accept alms (ˈä(l)mz 🔊).

(2) ရန်သူကို (အနီးကပ်ပစ်ရန်) အနီးသို့ ချဉ်းနင်းဝင်ရောက်စေသည် | yan2-dthu2 go2 (a-ni3-gut pyit yan2) a-ni3 dtho1 chin3-nin3 win2-yout zay2 dthi2 - let the enemy approach within the close range (to shoot).

အကပ်အသပ် | a-kut a-thut - same as အကပ် | a-kut in the sense of residue ([UK] rez.ɪ.dʒuː [US]ˈrez.ə.duː 🔊).
